Vanessa Gärtner studied Stage and Costume Design at the Kunsthochschule Weissensee and Cultural and Theatre Studies at the Humboldt University Berlin.
Since 2010 she has been working as a freelance stage designer and artist with children, young people and adults, shaping and researching for them and with them. She develops play concepts, objects, figures, hand puppets and spaces for dance and theatre productions and for art and cultural associations with a focus on art education and cultural education. International youth encounters, stage coaching, workshops in state museums and participatory exhibitions are also part of their repertoire.
At the beginning of each of her ideas and tasks, however, is always the simple drawing, and this way of expressing herself runs as a thread through all her activities and works.
Since 2016, Vanessa has been drawing and designing as an illustrator for Berlin-based associations, institutions and companies.
