Mascha Kaléko’s life was marked by various stages, including her childhood in Galicia, her time in Berlin, her emigration to New York and finally her return to Germany in the late 1950s. A German-language lyricist with Jewish roots, whose work has not received the appreciation it deserves for a long time! In the production by Daktylus e. V., not only were the stages of her life depicted, but her texts were also set to music. The performance combined her poetic language, her sensitive themes and her ability to process everyday experiences in lyrical form with stirring musical arrangements. The audience was taken on a fascinating journey that brought Mascha Kaléko’s life and her remarkable work to life in a new way – and continued to resonate with the audience for a long time.
